Designing and building a custom-built house should be one of the most rewarding processes an individual experiences. However, popular myths exist about the process that keep many from jumping in. Let us handle the most common myths we hear one by one, and set the record straight.

Myth:  Custom-Built Homes Take Forever to Build

A common fear is that building a new custom home will simply take too long, extending a move in date to months beyond the original schedule. The truth is that building a home should be a clearly organized, well-scheduled process. Each step of the build process should be outlined for the homeowner, with the whole build requiring a few months to complete. The small time investment leaves homeowners with a new home that is tailored to their lifestyle and family needs; a space that will be enjoyed by the family for decades to come.

Myth:  Communication with Builders is a Nightmare

We’ve all heard the negative stories about communication with home building contractors. Our process ensures that the customer’s needs and expectations are clearly defined up front, giving the contractor a clear vision for the project. We continue to follow up with homeowner consistently through the home build process with a single point of contact – making communication simple, easy and headache-free.

Myth:  Custom-Built Homes Cost Way More Than Tract Homes

People sometimes interpret “custom” as meaning “too expensive.” They also fear that they will start the project and get nickeled and dimed throughout the process until they are suddenly left with a more expensive home than they ever intended. For this reason, Regent does not offer an allowance system for homeowners to select their own fixtures. We help customers select the products they want and roll the cost into our overall project budget – meaning no hidden fees or blown expenses for homeowners.

Myth:  Building a New Home is Just Too Complicated

Many simply fear the idea of building a custom home. They perceive that it will be difficult to find the right design, that pricing will be too confusing or that the selecting materials and finishes will be too overwhelming. Our stress-free process provides honest advice and guidance from our home building experts, meaning that first-time and experienced custom home buyers feel confident with each decision they make as we bring their dream home to life.

It’s important to know that many of these myths exists because someone’s bad experience made the rounds.  All home builders are not created equal.  To rise above the myths, choose a home builder that has your best interest at the top of their list. Have a question about our process? We’d love to hear from you!
